I am delighted that the inaugural Indian Film Festival of Perth will bring the best of Indian and South Asian cinema to audiences in Western Australia. Continuing the tradition established by IFF Melbourne and Sydney, this festival is a tremendous opportunity to celebrate and exchange the stories that connect India and Australia.
Australia and India share natural affinities – in our histories and cultures, the affection between our peoples and the enthusiasm and dynamism that drives the positivity and promise of our two nations. The bonds that unite us flourish in the profound contribution to our great nation of the more than one million Australians who trace their roots, proudly, back to India.
More than an opportunity to observe from the audience, the screenings, workshops and events hosted by IFFP are a chance to engage, connect and collaborate. Bringing together storytellers, actors, producers and filmmakers, IFPP is a destination event, fostering understanding and exploring cinema as food for the soul and a source of inspiration.
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the IFFP to Western Australia. May this be the first in a long series celebrating the people, culture and stories that bring Australia and India closer together.

Prime Minister of Australia
